First Church of Christ, UCC in Farmington CT recently completed a one-year commitment to resettle an Iraqi refugee family in our community. This was a great way to bring the global world to our doorstep. Our family has a mother, a father and six young children. They are doing amazingly well. We've learned a lot about Muslim religion and culture and have eaten a lot of tasty food. The project was a huge amount of work and has had its difficult moments, but we have so enjoyed the family and they have responded well to the challenges they faced. We continue to offer them tutoring, advice and friendship. This project was the culmination of our three-year global mission plan, which we were pretty successful at executing. We had some notable experiences and accomplishments. We hosted a visit by Vatsala Vijayakumar, principal of the King's Matriculation School in Vellore, India. That inspired the church school to become sponsors for several children living at the Village Family Farm, an orphanage associated with the school. The sponsorships are a program promoted by Global Ministries. We also hosted a missionary, Tim Rose, for a weekend. We introduced prayers in worship for our global partners, published articles in the church newsletter, and raised awareness of all of the ongoing global initiatives that our church was already supporting, including significant hands-on missions to Sierra Leone and El Salvador. The global mission planning booklet was a great guide. While our church already had a global mission program to be proud of, the Global Mission Church initiative added depth and exposure in areas of church life that we hadn't previously reached or even considered. It is a great tool for growth in missions no matter what level you are starting at. Thank you, Global Ministries!

Its my pleasure to share with you friends how am being a globalmission church. Am in uganda-East Africa, we have a mission group where we move all over the country and the region preahing the good news of Jesus Christ, doing community services every where we reach, conducting confereces & seminars plus organising for open air crusades where needed, door to door evangelism & also visiting our brothers & sisters in the prisons and those in the hospitals. we always link up with churches in the communities where our mission is planned. We have however, encountered a serious challenge in the ares where we have reached; the increasing number of children who were & are being orphaned by HIV/AIDS & wars in some areas. These have made many children homeless, lacking what to eat & drink, what to put on, they cann't go to school, this has made majority of them resort to seeking for a better life on the streets where they have instead especially young girls been defiled & abused in all manners!!! We as the mission group are concerned but we are limited to help all this increasing number of God's children friends. We are praying that God enables us establish Center for rescueing these little ones; Ahome for these homeless children where they can be sheltered, feed, treated, taken to school & above all be transformed by the daily practical word of God & prayers. I strongly believe & have faith in God that A center of Hope for these precious children can be established where life can be brought back in the lives of these little ones & regain a sense of purpose in their lives. We therefore, apeal to you friends to stand with us in prayers so that one day these precious future generation is rescued. Be blessed all.

Visiting a friend for her installation, I met with the mission committee to let them think about all the ways to be a global mission church. That morning, I preached about the work, their work, through GM. And when they complimented my sermon, I signed them up for the e-mail list.

Ridglea Christian Church is spending the month of January focusing each week on each aspect of what it means to be a Global Mission church. We are lifting up information, opportunities for giving and service, and prayer requests each week to further our understanding and involvement in Global Ministries. RCC will be highlighting Global Ministries in worship, newsletters, Bible study, and an opportunity to give throughout each week in the month of January! We are hoping throughout the month also the congregation can discern a People-to-People pilgrimmage trip for our congregation as well.

Mark Behle visited the First Church of Christ in Sandwich MA on March 14th (in the midst of high winds and heavy rains with some flooding). He preached at both morning services and also gave the children’s sermon. Parishioners enjoyed the 3 stories that he told as part of his sermon, especially the story about rivalries amongst groups at church while presenting their offerings. In the afternoon Mark also had a power point presentation of life in Masitisse, Lesotho. There was a discussion, many questions and much learned about the people of Lesotho. A dinner followed with table cloths covering the tables that had been brought from Africa by a church member a few years ago.
