Democratic Republic of Congo

The churches of Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa) provide spaces where peace and unity are lived out in the name of Jesus Christ. For more than a century, the Disciples of Christ Community of Congo, now active in four provinces, has witnessed to God's saving actions through word, sacrament and service. In spite of the war, the ministries of the church move forward as signs of hope and humanity in the midst of despair and brutality. One example is the Bolenge Evangelical Hospital, founded in 1926, where more than 16,000 patients are treated annually by an all-Congolese medical staff. The Congo Christian Institute, Bolenge, educating secondary students.
