The Crosby Scholarship Fund for Theological Education in Zimbabwe is a Wider Church Ministries endowment fund established in conjunction with the New Hampshire Conference of the United Church of Christ in honor of The Reverend Benjamin C. L. Crosby. Reverend Crosby was Conference Minister of the New Hampshire Conference from 1991 through 2002 and he, along with others in New Hampshire, was responsible for the development of a global (Ukama) Partnership between the New Hampshire Conference of the United Church of Christ and the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe (UCCZ). Reverend Crosby was deeply connected to the mission of the global church during his ministry in New Hampshire, and he led the Conference to walk with the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe as an expression of God’s mission around the world.
The Ukama Partnership was established in 1996. Since its beginnings, the Ukama Partnership has brought dozens of congregations in New Hampshire and Zimbabwe into relationships of sharing, serving, and praying together. Delegations have traveled in both directions. Hundreds of travelers have experienced new cultures and new ways of being church. Reverend Crosby traveled to Zimbabwe many times to bear witness to and promote the relationship, and to celebrate the ways God has used this relationship for the up-building of the global church. The New Hampshire Conference chose to establish the Crosby Scholarship Fund as a way to honor Reverend Crosby, to recognize the importance of the Ukama Partnership and the role it has played in the life of the Conference, and to leave a lasting gift to the UCCZ in support of the development of new ministers now and for years to come.
The Crosby Scholarship Fund for Theological Education in Zimbabwe provides an opportunity for donors to make contributions to a permanent fund that will allow the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe to grant scholarship support for students studying for the ministry. The principal of the Crosby Scholarship Fund is invested and 100 percent of the distributions from the Crosby Scholarship Fund will be disbursed to the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe. The first priority for the use of distributions from the Crosby Scholarship Fund is to provide support for UCCZ students studying for the ministry at the United Theological College in Zimbabwe. Second priority is to use the distributions to support their ministerial students studying in other institutions of theological education in Africa.
Contributions may be made to the principal of this Fund at any time. Gifts for the Crosby Scholarship Fund for Theological Education in Zimbabwe should be directed to:
