I hope that the UCC website will keep the link up to advocate for common sense gun legislation in the form of bans on large capacity magazines. As a member of Peace UCC in Duluth and also serving on the Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence, I am accutally aware of the need for e-mail advocacy asking our Senators and Representatives to sign on to the bills. It makes a difference for them to receive e-mails from people of faith. Thank you for the advocacy and for signing on to Faiths United to prevent gun violence.

I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate you videotaping the Congo Symposium! Our church is using it as a three week study this month, October, to highlight the Breaking the Silence Campaign and to encourage our members and community to participate in the Cell Out. We have hosted two NGO groups to speak to members of our congregation and the local Fort Worth community within the last two weeks also. The groups that came to speak were Invisible Children and Falling Whistles - both who work to rehabilitate child soldiers in the D.R. Congo. We are also participating in a letter writing campaign to our local congressional representatives as part of a campaign by Enough, Amnesty International and A Thousand Sisters. Again, thank you for making this available to churches who could not attend the Symposium due to finances. Thank you for being light in the world. Ridglea Christian Church, Fort Worth, Texas

Our congregation Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Carlbad California is a Jubilee Congregation. We are members of Jubilee San Diego and Jubilee USA who are dedicated to debt cancellation in the world's poorest countries. Our congregation conducts teach ins using their resources and participates in Stand Up Sunday once a year, when we lift up those countries who are suffering from crushing debt, pray for them, make an offering to Jubilee, and write letters to our president and representatives. Throughout the year we are available if Jubilee contacts us with ideas on how we can help our brothers and sisters in the Global South. We are proud to proclaim Jubilee!

We are working to educate ourselves and others about the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and 3 of us will be attending the Congo Symposium next weekend. We are fortunate to have among our members a young man from Kinshasa who is studying Int'l Business at the University of Arkansas here in Fayetteville. He has adopted us, and we him, as family. Church members have reached out to support him as needed in his continued education and he has been a blessing to our congregation, talking with us and sharing his story. We know when he returns to Kinshasa, we will have a permanent connection. This fall we will plan another Congo Awareness Week and fundraiser to benefit Bolenge Hospital, and we have a church member who is considering organizing a Run for Congo Women event.
