Local church mission activities

September 23, 2005

Your church can celebrate mission in several ways. Try a mission fair or a youth mission day. Contact Global Ministries for ideas and materials.

Mission Activity Handbook

Decorate Chinese characters!

Here's a fun idea for a Sunday School project from the Searles family serving in Chengdu, China. Download the characters for  peace and  truth. Enjoy coloring the characters and use them to decorate a bulletin board or wall. They make great bulletin cover designs, too. (Please be sure to include the copyright information that's already on the page you'll download.) Have fun!

Fold paper cranes for peace

Maps

Maps influence our perspective of God's world. Political, religious, and geographical presentations provide information and fascinating lenses through which to view our human family and our environment. The  Peters Projection World Map is a stimulating and controversial image of the world. The UCC Synod encourages the use of this image of our world. The Perry-CastaËeda Library at the University of Texas at Austin contains a fascinating  map collection.

The National Geographic  website has lots of information about the world, including a program that allows you to print maps for any country.
