Oklahoma Region's People-to-People-Pilgrimage group raises funds for Caminante

ok2.jpgIn 2017, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma organized a Global Ministries People-to-People Pilgrimage to visit global partner, Caminante in the Dominican Republic. This is a pilgrimage the region has offered each summer for the past nine years. Each year, the group participants think of different material items to bring from Oklahoma that will support the work of Caminante. As this year’s group began planning, they decided to raise funds for Caminante’s growing summer outreach programs – the programs the group would be participating in during their pilgrimage.

Global Ideas for VBS, Camps, and other Summer Activities with Children and Youth

DSCN2260.JPGGlobal Ministries works in collaboration with global partners to provide food, healthcare, clothing, and in some cases housing, school fees, uniform, books and training, and livelihood opportunities to many children in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and Europe. Below are five global partners who are providing life-giving ministries for Children and Youth that you can support as a way to engage and participate in God's global mission.

All financial gifts for projects are sent in their entirety for the designated purpose to our global partners. No administrative fees are taken from gifts to Global Ministries because of the faithful giving from our churches to Our Church's Wider Mission and the Disciples Mission Fund.

Financial gifts are the most helpful way to assist global partner churches and programs for youth, because financial gifts allow the partners to purchase what they need most, and shipping materials are often costly and problematic for receiving.  However, a few partners are able to accept material shipments. If you are interested in collecting and sending materials to global partners working with children, find out more here

Alternative Gifts during the Christmas Season

The Wise Men from the East arrived at Jesus’ manger with gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh. In this spirit of Epiphany (or Three Kings Day), Caribbean brothers and sisters celebrate through giving gifts, baking a “King Cake”, and taking time to reflect on the joy and hope which filled the Three Kings as they journeyed from the East.

During the Caribbean Initiative, Global Ministries invites all to Embrace the Spirit of Epiphany throughout the 2017 holiday season by giving Alternative Gifts for House of Hope in Haiti, for Global Ministries in general, for a mission co-worker's appointment, or for a partner or program close to your heart.

Global Ministries partner, House of Hope provides a space for healing, learning, and self-expression for children living as “restaveks”, a form of child domestic servitude unique to Haiti.

An Alternative Gift for House of Hope today provides a life-changing impact:

  • $25 can provide school supplies
  • $50 can provide 120 meals for children—one day’s worth
  • $100 can provide construction materials to rebuild homes damaged by Hurricanes

>Give a gift to support House of Hope in Haiti.

Life-Changing Gifts
We are gift giving people. Any gift to Global Ministries can be shared as an Alternative schoolgirls.pngGift to honor a loved one while participating in the witness of God’s global mission. Global Ministries will send your loved one a card sharing the news of the gift you’ve made. 100% of your gift is sent to programs involved in the initiative of your choosing without administrative or banking fees taken out.

To participate in this sharing of God's abundant life you can give online or send a check to:

Global Ministries
Office of Resource Development
P.O. Box 1986

Please indicate the name and address of your honoree(s) and the designation you have chosen. We can either send you a special Global Ministries Christmas card for each person that you give an alternative gift to, or we can send the Christmas card directly to the person(s). If you give your gift online, you also have the option of sending an e-card to your honoree(s). You will receive a receipt for your gift along with a letter of appreciation for your support.
