Global Ideas for VBS, Camps, and other Summer Activities with Children and Youth

DSCN2260.JPGGlobal Ministries works in collaboration with global partners to provide food, healthcare, clothing, and in some cases housing, school fees, uniform, books and training, and livelihood opportunities to many children in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and Europe. Below are five global partners who are providing life-giving ministries for Children and Youth that you can support as a way to engage and participate in God's global mission.

All financial gifts for projects are sent in their entirety for the designated purpose to our global partners. No administrative fees are taken from gifts to Global Ministries because of the faithful giving from our churches to Our Church's Wider Mission and the Disciples Mission Fund.

Financial gifts are the most helpful way to assist global partner churches and programs for youth, because financial gifts allow the partners to purchase what they need most, and shipping materials are often costly and problematic for receiving.  However, a few partners are able to accept material shipments. If you are interested in collecting and sending materials to global partners working with children, find out more here

Alternative Gifts

Your gift makes a difference today in lives around the world!
agcatalogcover.PNGWe are gift-giving people. We celebrate important dates, accomplishments and events through the giving of gifts. The sections below invite you to make alternative gifts in recognition of these celebrations.  Many give alternative gifts at Christmas time, to recognize a birthday or anniversary, or to memorialize a life well-lived.

You are invited to give Alternative Gifts all year long, knowing that at the same time you are participating in the witness to God's global mission as carried out by partner churches and programs throughout the world.

To participate in this sharing of God's abundant life you can give online or by sending a check along with the Order Form.

Global Ministries projects addressing Human Trafficking

IMG_3009.JPGHuman trafficking, or trafficking in persons, is one of the world's largest organized criminal enterprises, somewhere between drugs and guns. Millions are held against their will for slave labor and sex work, including tens of thousands in the US. Half of them are children. Human trafficking is growing because slave labor is profitable and because poverty makes so many vulnerable to exploitation. Global Ministries works with global church and program partners that address human trafficking in their communities.

World Water Day - March 22

March 22 is World Water Day

waterforall.jpg

Over 1 billion people in the world lack sustainable access to fresh water. Global Ministries is raising awareness about the critical needs for fresh and accessible water around the world through the Water for All! campaign. Water is a vital ingredient for life. It is a gift from God for all creation and should be viewed as such a gift, not a commodity for profitable gain. As responsible stewards of God's gifts, we need to help protect the gift of water by going beyond verbal expressions of concern -- we must act. We invite you to learn why water is a critical issue for study and action.

World Communion Sunday - October 1

WCS.jpg

World Communion Sunday offers congregations a distinctive opportunity to experience Holy Communion in the context of the global community of faith. The first Sunday of October has become a time when Christians in every culture break bread and pour the cup to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church. On that day, they remember that they are part of the whole body of believers. Whether shared in a grand cathedral, a mud hut, outside on a hilltop, in a meetinghouse, or in a storefront, Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations. World Communion Sunday can be both a profound worship experience and a time for learning more about our wider community of faith.
