Justice and Advocacy

The Zulu ethic Ubuntu says "I can not be fully me unless you are fully you." Sharing in community with others around the world means Global Ministries speaks out on issues of peace and justice, poverty and human rights. Global Advocacy and Education raises awareness, encourages action in local congregations, and works ecumenically in Washington, DC and at the United Nations to bring faithful public witness to critical policy questions. Advocacy priorities are shaped by the positions of the Common Global Ministries Board and by United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) resolutions, and are informed by the first-hand experience of our Global partners and their communities around the world.

The Caribbean Initiative

banner.jpgThe Global Ministries Caribbean Initiative invites the whole church to witness together with the Caribbean region through education, advocacy, and support of our partners. Our hope and prayer is that through many and varied experiences, we will better understand the issues, priorities, successes, and struggles of sisters and brothers in the Caribbean and, in turn, be challenged to understand ourselves, our world, and our faith anew.

The Middle East Initiative

meibanner.jpgThe Global Ministries Middle East Initiative invites the whole church to focus on the region of the Middle East for an extended period of time. Through highlighting aspects of mission and partnership, the Initiative offers an opportunity for the church to become familiar with the range of denominational partners in the region and the issues they face and the context in which they face them
