Haiti

Haiti shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic. With 99 percent of the population of African descent, it has suffered military dictatorships and invasions since the declaration of independence during the 18th century.

Father Jean Bertrand Aristide, was elected president of Haiti for a second term. The international community has much concern that the election process had not been totally democratic. But the cheers and hope for a better life come from the vast majority of the Haitians who see in Aristide one of their own.

Pray for: The theological education program of the National Spiritual Council of Churches of Haiti (CONASPEH) that provides training to the leadership of over 2,500 grassroots churches in Haiti.

The new health and wellness program of CONASPEH, under the leadership of Sherry Ward.
