More than 120 new homes have been built by the Emergency Committee of the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Honduras (AIEH) for victims of Hurricane Mitch. The plan was possible thanks to significant financial contributions secured through the Disciples' Week of Compassion and the UCC's One Great of Sharing offerings, Disciples regions and UCC conferences, and the participation of work teams from Disciples and UCC congregations, many of them scheduled through the CGMB People-to-People Pilgrimage Program.
The Christian Commission for Development (CCD) has as its main objective, to offer open space for dialogue sharing similar experiences that will strengthen the civil society of the region. CCD entered into a restructure process including staff reduction and evaluation of goals and priorities. CGMB overseas staff, Helen Burgess, continued serving in health education programs especially related to CCD's sponsored seminary in Tegucigalpa.
