UCC Conference Ministers Share their Reflections on Middle East Trip
From July 7-22, United Church of Christ Conference Ministers James Antal (Massachusetts Conference), John Deckenback (Central Atlantic Conference) and Roddy Dunkerson (Nebraska), traveled to the Middle East with Peter Makari (Global Ministries' Middle East and Europe Executive).  Their trip spanned the region, including visits to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Israel/Palestine.  Their focus was on the situation of Iraqi refugees for part of the trip, and on the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for another part, all along interacting with the work of our churches' partners, learning of their ministries and witness in these times and places. Eight Disciples Regions Participate in First Be a Global Mission Region Immersion Trip
On September 16, Eight Disciples Regional staff will meet in Detriot for a time of orientation and Mission Interpreters training before boarding a plan the following day to visit Disciples in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo from September 18 – 30. The purpose of the trip is to develop plans for Being a Global Mission Region in the context of an overseas experience with international partners. Trip participants include: Dale Braxton – AL NW FL Region, Denny Williams – AZ Region, Cathy Hubbard – Canada, Jon Lacey – MI Region, John Richardson – NC Region, Bill Edwards – OH Region, Doug Wirt – Oregon Region, Don Dewey – Pacific SW Region, Sandra Gourdet – GM Africa office and Bob Shebeck – GM Mission Interpretation office. Please keep this group in prayer over the next weeks and look for more info in the coming weeks.

Connecting Threads DVD Series to Appear on NBC
Beginning Sunday October 5, a one hour edited version of the Global Ministries Connecting Threads DVD series will be available to NBC affiliates for a 30 to 60 day period for viewing on their network. This will be an incredible opportunity to promote Global Ministries through network television. More information will be given in the next weeks to let you know how you can promote the viewing of Connecting Threads with your local NBC station.

WCC Delegation Visits Georgia and Russia
"We expect this visit to encourage Christians in both countries to keep talking to each other and praying for each other," says Elenora Giddings Ivory, WCC director of Public Witness and Global Advocacy. "If Christians in Georgia and Russia manage not to allow the divide between their countries to separate them, they may help their governments to move towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict."
