40 Plus Gather in Cleveland for MMI Training
Disciples and UCC members met in Cleveland at the Radisson Gateway Hotel and UCC Church House for a week-end of Ministries and Mission Interpreters training October 9-11. It was a great training opportunity which featured Partner updates from area offices, mission stories from GM Missionaries, a game of Global Ministries Jeopardy, steps to Being a Global Mission Church, ways to share the story of how Disciples and UCC are participating in God's mission around the world, opportunities to serve as a person in mission and give to the work of mission, global advocacy and justice issues ... and much much more. Do You Use GoodSearch When Searching the Web?
Global Ministries received the following recently from Diane Millar, member of Pilgrim Faith UCC, Oak Lawn Illinois and a Ministries and Mission Interpreter (MMI): "A couple of years ago I received an invitation to use the GoodSearch website to benefit Global Ministries. I've been using it 10 to 15 times most days ever since. If I just click 10 times a day, I generate $36 dollars a year to Global Ministries. I'm clicking anyway, so why not do some good at the same time?" More than $480 has been generated by people using GoodSearch and choosing Global Ministries – Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ as the cause they support. You too can set a bookmark or toolbar to use GoodSearch easily every time you search online and benefit Global Ministries. Invite your friends, family and others in your church to do the same. Go to
http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=847213 for more information and to start giving while you search the internet.
The AACC Responds to the Crisis in the Republic of Guinea
"The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) has taken cognizance of the horrific news and pictures from the massacre that since the 28th of September 2009 has cost more than 157 innocent lives as well as over 1200 persons injured. The bloodshed that has put Africa and the whole of humanity to shame, compels the All Africa Conference of Churches to send a message to the Republic of Guinea to express the shock and indignation caused by these horrors…" To read the rest of the letter, click here:

Join the "Cell Out" for the Congo on Wednesday, October 21, 2009
The Cell Out is an organized cell phone usage boycott to bring awareness to the war in the Congo over natural resources. Coltan is a mineral used in numerous electronic devices such as cell phones and game consoles (Microsoft X-Box and Sony Playstation), and is mined illegally in the Congo by rebel militia and foreign forces. As a result of Coltan being sold to multinational corporations, 45,000 Congolese have died each month since 1996. To learn more, click here:
