It is with deep sadness that Global Ministries announces the passing of former missionary, Helen Louise Corpron, on January 16, 2009.
Helen was born July 4, 1929, in Roswell, New Mexico, and grew up in Pasadena, California. Helen, and her husband, Dr. Douglas Corpron, traveled to Thailand in 1958 to begin their training for the mission field and established the Kwai River Christian Hospital near the Thailand/Burma border. Helen and Doug served in Thailand until 1967 and found these years to be the most challenging and satisfying of their lives together. Helen initiated a well baby clinic, provided public health education, coordinated the UNICEF program, and pitched in where needed in the hospital. In addition to educating their own seven children, Helen taught math to children in the Thai school and kept the financial records for the mission.
A memorial celebration was held on Saturday, January 24, at Englewood Christian Church in Yakima, Washington, where Helen and Douglas have been active members for over 40 years. The family requests donations, in Helen's honor, be made to the Children's Village Memorial Fund (www.memfound.org) or to Englewood Christian Church, 511 North 44th Avenue, Yakima, WA 98908.
Global Ministries thanks God for the life, ministry, and testimony of Helen and for her outstanding contribution to the education to the children of Thailand. |
