Tilda Evangelical Mission Hospital, Church of North India

August 17, 2009

Annual Report of the Director for July 2008 - June 2009

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3:22-23.

Tilda Hospital's staff over the past year has been comprised of five doctors (three consultants and two junior doctors) with great support from Dr. V. K. Henry and Mrs. Nancy Henry.  In addition, Tilda has been served by nineteen nurses, four paramedic staff, and 29 other staff.

Tilda saw a total of 10,654 patients in the last year.  The daily average for inpatient services has been 34 patients at a time.  In the past year, the pharmacy has been computerized which helps to maintain the stock of medications and allows for faster dispensing of medications.  To improve the facilities for private ward patients, six pay wards were renovated with tiled bathrooms.

Changes have been made in the existing intensive care unit including acquisition of an oxygen concentrator, ventilator, and a multipara monitor for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).  They also installed a 5 KV stabilizer for the ICU to deal with severe voltage fluctuation.  Plans are to have separate ICU units for medical and surgical cases.

Other added equipment elsewhere in the hospital includes a new 100MA X-ray machine, since the 300MA X-ray machine is out of order; a new ECG machine, an electronic fetal monitor, and a Doppler.  Likewise, laboratory services added a few more biochemical tests including lipid profile and liver function test.  The next step is to acquire a license for the blood bank.

This past year, the community health program has been restricted to the ongoing work in three villages.  Plans for this year are to reach out to new villages.  Some initial discussions have been done with the community health officer in Raikheda.  Tilda Hospital proposes to provide technical help in terms of doctors, nurses, and lab technician.  This will help Tilda Hospital reach out to three new villages in the region.

The hospital has been self sufficient and has been able to carry on various renovation works throughout the year.  Donations received for the construction of the nursing hostel annex and for the hospital as a whole are very much appreciated and help Tilda Hospital expand available services.

Plans for this year:

  • Continued construction of the nursing hostel annex.
  • Installation of a transformer.
  • Construction of Canteen.
  • Renovate another 6 existing pay wards.
