The Shanti Griha Peace Center was created to help address the ways that India’s indigenous peoples have been displaced and distressed by the ways that development has been pursued in the recent past. These indigenous peoples have often been the victims of development. Their unique language and their cultural traditions have left them vulnerable to those who would like to develop and harvest the resources for which these people have been the stewards for generations. The Shanti Griha Peace Center hopes to be an instrument of justice for these displaced and abused peoples. It is their hope to restore human dignity to these indigenous groups. Their goals are to empower indigenous groups to preserve and protect their rights, learn skills and resources to improve their livelihood options, and to help them develop economic skills to support community development and cultural appreciation and preservation
