The Church of North India has worked with CASA and the Indian Government to help establish effective tsunami relief programs in tsunami affected regions. CNI was selected to be the primary relief delivery coordinator in the Andaman Nicobar Islands because the vast majority of the population of the Islands is Christian. The Church helped establish and support relief camps in the immediate aftermath of the disaster, providing food, medical care, counseling, and school supplies. The Church worked efficiently and collaboratively to establish plans for rebuilding 20 communities which were destroyed by the tsunami. The government has had to approve plans and to rebuild the infrastructure (roads, etc) so that the construction work can progress
