CSI: Empowerment of Deprived Girl Children

U.N. statistics, national reports and studies by non-governmental organizations repeatedly demonstrate that girls as a group suffer with lower literacy rates, less health and nutritional care, less (if any) education and are sometimes even denied the right to life itself. The Church of Southern India realizes its responsibility to respond to the needs of these girls. The objective of the Church is that a deprived girl child should be able to experience the joy of being born a girl - no matter what her position or class is - in a peaceful, just and humane environment. The CSI intends to start one residential education centre in each of the 20 Dioceses. The selected 50 students would be based in the center. The Diocese would be responsible for providing the building and other basic necessities within the premises of the building, which would house these girl children. The CSI will also identify qualified people for program coordination, life skills orientation, humanistic value orientation, cooking and security.
