A Responsive Litany (Ken and Betty Frank, Turkey)
Leader: If one suffers, all suffer together
People: If one Muslim neighbor hurts, we all hurt together
L: If one Jewish neighbor is grieving, we all grieve together
P: If one Buddhist neighbor is in despair, we are all in despair together
L: We call on you, O God: deepen our compassion
P: If any one of us suffers, we all suffer together
Unison: And we rush to help all who suffer
L: And when our Muslim neighbor is honored and respected, we rejoice
P: When our Jewish neighbor is admired and praised, we rejoice
L: And when our Buddhist neighbor is applauded and esteemed, we rejoice
P: When anyone of us is honored and respected, we dance with joy
L: We call on you, O God: strengthen our empathy
P: That we may rejoice in the gladness of others
Unison: For this is how we ourselves wish to be treated. Praise be to God.
