Letter from Child Sponsors to Child in China
A heartfelt letter from sponsors to the child they sponsor in China.
We are very happy that our good friend Mr. Zhu is bringing you this letter from your American friends. We have enclosed a photo of us, so you know what we look like. We have seen a photo of you, but would like to see more! We feel very blessed that we are able to help you and your family in some small way.
We are so sorry that you have had so many difficulties in your young life. Mary Anne lost a brother in 1993. He died of AIDS at age 38, so we can truly sympathize with your loss. We are sure that your absent parent would want very much for you to do your best in school, and go to school as long as you can, so that you can help to support your family and yourself.
Richard is an engineer at NASA, the U.S. space and aeronautical research organization. Mary Anne used to be a school teacher—she taught 7th and 8th grade math, history and computer, but now she works part-time as a florist. We are both very active in our church, and have asked all of our church members to pray for you. We hope that you understand America. We are fortunate to be a wealthy country, but many of us try to use that wealth to help those who have less than they need.
We hope that you will be able to write back to us. Tell us about your family, about your school, and your dreams and plans for the future. We really want to hear from you!
In true love,
Richard & Mary Anne
