Sharing Abundance - A Prayer

March 2, 2013

Dear Loving God,

I know you share your abundance with anyone who will accept it.  You offer it to people who have glorified your name their whole lives and to those who curse it or refuse it.  Despite all you've given me, I don't return the favor.  When it comes to my bounty, I will share it with those that I love; those whom have benefited me.  For those who have hurt me, are in debt to me, or have betrayed me, they are at the bottom of the list to receive anything I have to offer.

It is a struggle, but I will work to overcome it.  Who am I to think that my grudges are wiser than what you offer?  As Christ taught us when he spoke of your grace, “God gives sunlight to both the evil and the good. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that?”

Bad practices stem from bad principles.  In John's gospel, Christ said he came so that the thieves who come to steal, kill, and destroy will have life and have it to the full.  His offerings know no bounds.  Please, help me adopt and practice his principle.  Just as I have received and shared in God's abundance with sinners just like me, may I share my abundance with sinners just like me.

In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.
