We have just completed a six-month Home Assignment in the USA. The statistics show that we gave a total of 67 programs, both separately and as a couple, to various church and church-related groups, both in Southern California and in New England, and especially in Connecticut.

Our unique American Board library in Istanbul has a copy of the Proceedings of the 97th Annual Meeting of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM), Oct. 9-12, 1906. It was a grand gathering held at Williams College over several days, celebrating the centennial of the Haystack Prayer Meeting of 1806 that led to the incorporation of the ABCFM.Read more
The United Church of Christ is turning 50 years old! From Nov 5 2006, through Nov 1 2007, the entire denomination will be celebrating. Global Ministries News Update: November 1, 2006
On October 19th, 120 persons converged on the Radisson City Centre in Indianapolis to participate in Missionworks, a biennial event sponsored by FOCUS (Fellowship of Continuing Understanding and Support) and Global Ministries. The gathering enabled participants to learn about Global Ministries’ work with international partners around the world on behalf of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ.Read more

You may have seen the news items about the international Gallup Poll of Muslim women. The Gallup organization questioned people in nine predominantly Islamic countries, including Turkey, where we live, as part of an ongoing study since 2002.
By the way, Turks want you to know that theirs is a secular country unlike, say, Pakistan, which identifies itself as an Islamic Republic. But Turks will accept that they almost all call themselves Muslims.
