The Joy of Sharing Good News

The Joy of Sharing Good News

In the synagogue in the town of Nazareth Jesus shared Isaiah’s message of hope to God’s people.  He was sent to bring the Good News of God’s love to the people and revealed this love by his words and deeds.  Jesus also commanded his disciples to go into the world and spread the message of God’s love for all people.

Is there anyone who does not like to bring good news to others?  Don’t we all enjoy the blessing of being a blessing to others?  These other words from Isaiah come to mind:

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’”  (52:7)

The African nation of Lesotho has one of the highest HIV/AIDS infection rates in the world.  Statistics show there are as many as 200,000 orphans caused by this pandemic.  At Masitise High School there are classes where 60% of the students have lost one or both parents.   The youth of Lesotho certainly need good news.

Thanks to support given for Global Ministries work in Lesotho, there is good news to share with the youth of Lesotho.  Students at Masitise in need of financial assistance to pay school fees receive the joyous news that there is help available.  The expressions of relief in the faces of parent and child are readily apparent as uncertain futures without education are transformed into ones with great possibilities.

Each year at Masitise a number of students attend the Scripture Union High School Camp.  At this Bible camp the Good News of Jesus Christ is shared as campers experience several days of Bible study, fellowship, fun and good food.  Young lives are brightened, strengthened and changed.  The Masitise youth are able to attend thanks to “good news” from Global Ministries.

For all of you that support the work of Global Ministries, thanks for your “beautiful feet” that bring good news to people around the world.   As you continue in this ministry of giving, be mindful of the great joy you are bringing into the lives of others.
