Global Ministries at UCC General Synod 35: A Time of Solidarity and Shared Hope

Global Ministries was honored to join the 35th General Synod of the United Church of Christ, a gathering that brought together UCC members and partners from around the world in a spirit of learning, dialogue, and shared action.

Mayadah Tarazi, representing the YWCA of Palestine, shared about her experience: “I feel I can share more than one quote, as being at the General Synod was one of the most incredible conferences I have attended. I was surrounded by so many supportive people, deeply committed to solidarity and action. I met countless UCC members eager to learn more and truly listen to how we, as Palestinians, are coping and living. Despite the hard conversations that took place, which I believe are natural for those seeking genuine solidarity, there was a shared commitment to understanding, and a powerful sense of connection.”

At the Synod, she carried the voice of Palestine, representing justice, dignity, and peace. “In every conversation, I felt the power of global solidarity to turn empathy into action,” Tarazi reflected.

She also emphasized the long-standing relationship between the YWCA of Palestine and the UCC: “Being at the General Synod was deeply moving, a chance to share the Palestinian story and to celebrate the long, faithful partnership between the YWCA Palestine and UCC, united in our hope and work for a Just Peace.”

Through moments of dialogue, reflection, and collaboration, the Synod underscored the shared commitment of the UCC and its global partners to build a more just, compassionate world.
