Honoring Black History, Celebrating Faithful Witness

For 30 years, Global Ministries has been a living testament to what is possible when churches come together in shared mission. Born from the historic partnership between the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ, Global Ministries was created with a vision: to accompany, not control; to listen, not dictate; and to work in mutuality with partners across the globe.

Our story, however, stretches back even further—rooted in nearly two centuries of mission engagement shaped by compassion, justice, and a deep commitment to living out the Gospel. Nowhere is this legacy more profound than in the Africa region, where relationships have been nurtured through decades of collaboration in education, healthcare, leadership development, sustainable agriculture, and peacebuilding. Together with African churches and communities, we have witnessed resilience in the face of hardship and celebrated transformation born from faithful partnership.

As Global Ministries celebrates its 30th anniversary, we honor the leaders, missionaries, partners, and advocates who have carried this work forward with courage and conviction. Their witness reminds us that global mission is not simply about service—it is about belonging to one another as members of one body.

Looking ahead, October 2026 will offer meaningful opportunities to live out this commitment. During Congo Week, we will join churches and communities worldwide to pray, advocate, and raise awareness for peace, justice, and dignity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. That same month, partners from across the Africa region will gather for a regional meeting—strengthening relationships, sharing wisdom, and discerning how God is calling us to respond to the needs and hopes of our time.

Thirty years in shared ministry is more than a milestone—it is a reminder that faithful partnership can shape a more just and compassionate world. With gratitude for our rich history and hope for the future, Global Ministries remains committed to walking alongside our global neighbors, trusting that the work we do together today will inspire generations to come.
