A Call to Peace and Moral Responsibility in Nigeria

A Call to Peace and Moral Responsibility in Nigeria

In response to the recent U.S. missile strikes against ISIS-linked targets in northwest Nigeria, the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) offers a prayerful reflection rooted in faith, justice, and compassion. While recognizing governments’ responsibility to protect human life, we urge moral discernment and restraint in the use of force, emphasizing that lasting peace requires addressing the root causes of violence through diplomacy, community engagement, and social investment.

We stand against all violence targeting civilians and call on leaders to act with wisdom, humility, and moral responsibility. As followers of Christ, the Prince of Peace, we affirm that every act of violence carries profound consequences and commit to praying for the healing, restoration, and protection of communities affected by conflict.
