2014 Child Sponsorship Appeal Letter

2014 Child Sponsorship Appeal Letter

Dear Friends in Mission,

Greetings from the Global Ministries Child Sponsorship staff in Cleveland, Ohio! Each year we are humbled by the generosity you show for the children and elders supported by our sponsorship ministry. We want to continue this blessing for the less fortunate.  To do so, we need your help for, “…there will always be poor people in the land.  Therefore, I command you to be overhanded towards the poor and needy.”  (Deuteronomy 15:11 adapted)

UCC and Disciple individuals, families, local churches and church groups provide such things as meals, housing, basic healthcare and, more importantly, love and concern for disadvantaged children and elders.  This is evident from the testimonies we receive from our partners about the assistance received from your sponsorship.  Their testimonies reveal how meaningful and rewarding the sponsorship of God’s children has been for all involved. The program touches the entire life spectrum as the elders of the program are simply God’s older children.

Lives that have changed from sponsorship support include Hema, who at the age of two was deserted by her father.  Hema’s mother was left with six children to care for and only able to do low wage jobs.  She worked and cared for her children but was unsuccessful, so she asked the Family Village Farm staff to take in and care for the youngest two children.

A widow, Mrs. Lhamo’ s life was also changed when she went to India and joined the Tibetan Refugee-Self Help Centre.  She has three sons and two daughters.  Unfortunately, her children do not support her in any way.  She is currently on medication for hypertension, heart, leg and hand difficulties.  Like many elders of our partners, Mrs. Lhamo is completely dependent on the Centre and wants to live out her last days proudly and modestly.

With 100% of the sponsorship donations going to our partners’ children and elders, we need your help to continue our work.  Please consider an additional donation, above the cost of your sponsorship, to help with costs associated with delivering the services.  Whether your donation is $25 to $100 or more it will go a long way to continue this valuable ministry to children and elders.  Together, we can work to make this a better world for others.

In gratitude,

Linda Lawrence
