“Israel and Palestine:  Roots of Conflict, Prospects for Peace” is the theme for the eighth annual spring conference of Christians for Peace and Justice in the Middle East.  The event, free and open to the public, will be held at North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis on Palm Sunday, April 5.  The keynote speaker will be Norman G. Finkelstein, an American political scientist and author whose primary fields of research are the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the politics of the Holocaust.

Dr. Finkelstein, whose parents were Holocaust survivors, received his doctorate in 1988 from the Department of Politics at Princeton University.  He is a world-renowned and critical expert on Israeli-Palestinian issues.  As the author of five books translated into more than 40 foreign editions, he notes that “it is possible to unite exacting scholarly rigor with scathing moral outrage.”  Finkelstein’s work has attracted a number of supporters as well as detractors across the political spectrum.

Registration will begin at 1:30 PM with the keynote address at 2:30, followed by observations and a question and answer session with the event ending at 4:30.
