CMEP Action Alert: 1,500 Tent of Nations Trees Destroyed by Israeli Military

New action alert from Churches for Middle East Peace

[The following action alert was issued by Churches for Middle East Peace and is complemetary to the alert issued last week by the United Church of Christ’s Justice and Peace Action Network.]

Listening to Daoud Nassar tell of the destruction of his farmland on our Churches for Middle East Peace national briefing call on Tuesday broke my heart. Just the day before, the Israeli authorities destroyed approximately 1,500 trees on his farm without warning.

I know many of you have visited Tent of Nations and have spoken with Daoud about how he “refuses to be enemies” with Israelis despite the threats of land confiscation and settlement expansion. I am always struck by his steadfast commitment to non-violence and coexistence.

I have raised this with my contacts in the State Department and I hope you will join me by writing a letter to Secretary Kerry to publicly call attention to the destruction of the Nassar family’s trees and condemn to the this ongoing Israeli practice of forcing Palestinians off their land.

CMEP has an appointment with U.S. Middle East peace envoy Martin Indyk at the State Department next Thursday, May 29, and want I to deliver your letters to him then.

Please take action NOW and speak up for the Nassar family and all Palestinians who live under the threat of losing their land!
