Elizabeth Lincoln Dorr Welch, born September 6, 1913 in Pemaquid Maine died on January 7, 2006 in Shelby, Ohio. Betty lived a life full of faith, joy, love for others and an example to all.

After years of teaching school and then as co-worker with Max in several pastorates in Maine and Massachusetts, Betty and Max were called to Angola, doing language study in Lisbon and Chissamba, and serving at Bunjei, Bailundu and Dondi from 1947 – 1958.

Max and Betty then served UCC congregations in Connecticut and Maine for the next 40 years.  During part of that period, Betty was also teaching.  They raised four children – Ken, Tom, Sue, Patti – a foster son George, and many who were embraced as family.

Max and Betty’s story can be read in Betty’s memoirs, “Our Story As Told By Elizabeth Lincoln Dorr Welch.”

Condolences, but even more, words of celebration of Betty’s life can be sent to the family c/o Patti – Rev. Patricia Welch, 41 4th St., Shelby, OH 44875; welchgates@copperfast.com.
