Pauline McCoy Green

Pauline McCoy Green passed away in Houston on Sunday, March 5, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday at University Christian Church in Austin. A service of committal will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in the chapel of University Christian Church in Fort Worth.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to either the pipe organ fund at University Christian Church, 2007 University Drive, Austin, Texas 78705; or the Memorial Fund, Central Christian Church, 903 Walnut St., Texarkana, Texas 75501.

Pauline’s life was a gift to all who knew her. We will always remember her beauty, her gentle and selfless spirit, and her devotion to her family and her faith. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Pauline also touched many in her roles as a volunteer hospital chaplain, Sunday school teacher, community volunteer and early childhood teacher.

Pauline was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Trinity to Gladys Dunnam and John William McCoy. She was the eldest daughter in a family of 10 children. Pauline met and married her best friend, Leslie Green, in 1952. Pauline shared fully in Leslie’s ministry as he pastored several Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations in Australia and Texas, including Boulevard Christian Church (now Rockwood Christian Church) in Fort Worth (1970-1975).

Pauline attended college at Texas Christian University early in her marriage, but did not finish her degree until many years later. At the age of 58, she enrolled at Texas A&M University at Texarkana and completed her education degree, graduating cum laude.

Survivors: Her husband; their wonderful children, Rod, Steven, David and Kathy; and grandchildren, Harrison and Charlie Green, Zoe Green and Katie and Grace Golson.
