Disciples Sister to Sister Exchange and Partner Visit to African Continent

Sandra Gourdet, Global Ministries Africa Area Executive, and Phyllis Hallman, Coordinator of the Sister to Sister Exchange Program at several of the past Disciples Women Quadrennial Events, will visit International Sisters and partners in several countries in Africa. Many of these International Sisters have attended a Quadrennial event and have itinerated in Disciples Regions. Below is a glimpse of their travel schedule:

GHANA

MONDAY, JANUARY 31, 2011

We will arrive in Accra around 8:00 am and will be met at the airport by Joyce Larko.  Others may join her but this is not known at this time.  We will go to the Paintsiwa Hotel, a place that the Council uses for many of its guests.   We will have time to rest before joining Joyce in the afternoon for visits

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2011

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2011

We will travel by road to Ho in the Volta Region to be with our partners of The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana.  This is about 3 hours from Accra.     The UCC has a strong legacy here.  Many missionaries served in this area.  You will find all the elements of a “mission post” – the church, the clinic, schools, etc.The Church Moderator studied at Christian Theological Seminary about 10 years ago.  He is forever grateful for that investment in his life.  We will stay overnight at the church’s hotel.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2011

We will probably visit a few projects/programs in the morning. In the afternoon we travel back to Accra.  Chances are that we will rest at Joyce’s home while we wait for our evening flight to Nairobi.
