Declaration of Recommitment to Justice
I,_________ , a member of the body of Christ, hereby declare the following:
- Plaintiff’s Status: I am a plaintiff in God’s Supreme Court. As a member of the body of Christ, I bring this declaration before this Holy Court. I have personal knowledge of the facts stated herein.
- Acknowledgment of Spectatorship: I acknowledge that I have been a mere spectator to the cause of justice. I failed to notice the pervasive problems around me and did not actively participate in justice work. Instead, I was distracted by external matters. I was under the illusion that merely declaring “I do” or “I am saved” and becoming a member was sufficient, allowing me to enjoy the title without further involvement. I relied on committees, ministers, and the government to handle issues of justice, believing I was too busy to address systemic injustices in society.
- Declaration of Divorce from Spectatorship: I hereby declare my intention to divorce myself from a passive role in justice work. I have ignored what I saw and heard, often choosing the path of least resistance and turning away from the challenges of justice. I renounce the “Hypodermic Syringe Model” of justice work, where I passively absorbed messages about justice from media, beneficiaries of unjust systems, and perceived powerful figures. I divorce myself from the neologisms I adopted without critical examination.
- Prayer for Forgiveness and Recommitment: I, the plaintiff, pray for forgiveness and recommits myself to the work of justice. I seek to transition from neologism to “kneelogy,” embracing a life focused on transformative prayer. This is not a passive prayer but one that seeks restored sight and hearing to perceive and address injustice.
- Recommitment to Active Justice: As the plaintiff, I recommit myself to a new understanding of Theos, recognizing that the body of Christ is called to love God through action. I recommit to the work of justice as a member of the body of Christ, dedicated to learning and living out the justice taught in the Bible. I commit to addressing injustice wherever it exists. As a member of the body of Christ, I recommit to demonstrating God’s love in the world.
- Testimony of Personal Knowledge: I, the plaintiff, have personal knowledge of the facts stated above. When called as a witness, I will testify that justice is achieved when truth is freely preached and observed, producing liberative fruits. However, I recognize that preaching does not always fall on fertile ground, and the system of injustice is resistant to change. A church that does not prioritize liberation as a core mission risks becoming a spectator while the community is overwhelmed by deception and destruction.
Signed,
