Global Ministries Invites Churches to Help Shape Its Next Five Years

Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ is entering an important season of discernment and planning. As the organization looks toward the next five years of mission and partnership, leaders are committed to ensuring that the strategic plan reflects the wisdom, experiences, and hopes of the wider church.

To guide this process, Rev. Dr. Lisa Withrow is consulting with the Global Ministries team to co-create a new strategic plan by mid-autumn 2026. Central to this work is listening. Over the coming months, Rev. Dr. Withrow will engage eight different stakeholder groups and a Steering Team, gathering stories and perspectives about the impact, challenges, and future possibilities of Global Ministries.

As part of this broad consultation, church representatives are invited to participate in an online Roundtable discussion. Each 90-minute Zoom conversation will center on five key questions—questions that will be asked consistently across all stakeholder groups to ensure shared themes and insights can emerge. The goal is to incorporate as many voices as possible into a faithful, forward-looking plan.

Two opportunities are available (all times Eastern U.S.):

  • February 23 at 7:00 p.m.
  • March 5 at 11:00 a.m.

Participants are encouraged to RSVP directly to Rev. Dr. Withrow at LRwithrow@gmail.com to receive the Zoom link and help organizers anticipate attendance. Those unable to join online may request the five questions by email and submit their reflections in writing.

This is a meaningful opportunity for congregations to contribute to the emerging future of Global Ministries. By sharing experiences, insights, and hopes, participants will help shape a strategic direction rooted in collaboration, faithful witness, and the collective strength of the church.

All are warmly invited to join the conversation and help discern what the next chapter of Global Ministries will become.
