Global Ministries is saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Kevin L. Bowers

Reverend Kevin L. Bowers, 67, of New Cumberland, West Virginia passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 11, 2023, at Weirton Medical Center. He was born February 28, 1956, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Vernon and Ellamae Owens Bowers.

Kevin was a graduate of Milligan College in Milligan, Tennessee where he earned his bachelor’s degree and Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana, having earned his Master of Divinity. During the period between his degrees, he taught elementary education with the Mount Lebanon school district in Pennsylvania. In 2018, he retired as pastor from First Christian Church in Weirton, West Virginia after 27 years.

From 1984 to 1987, Kevin served a three-year appointment with the Division of Overseas Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), which is now a part of Global Ministries. Kevin was a teacher at Bangkok Christian College during his appointment. He taught English and developed a program for teaching English as a second language to students in early elementary school.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 27 years, Diane Fields Bowers; brothers, Howard Bowers (Sandra) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paul Bowers (Janet) of Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Greg Fields (Kathryn) of Houston, Texas; niece, Julie Bowers; and nephews, Jim Bowers, Will Fields, Ben Fields (Catherine), John Fields (Erika), and Scott Fields.
