Global Ministries Co-Executive Visits with Former Missionaries

Rev. Julia Brown Karimu, Co-Executive of Global Ministries, recently traveled to Fort Worth, Texas at the invitation of University Christian Church.

Rev. Julia Brown Karimu, Co-Executive of Global Ministries, recently traveled to Fort Worth, Texas at the invitation of University Christian Church.  During her visit on January 25-26, 2013, she and David Owen, Associate for Resource Development, had the privilege of visiting with former missionaries.

First they met with Ralph and Mary Maxine Palmer as well as Mike and Nancy Saenz.  Mr. and Mrs. Palmer served in Japan from 1952 to 1957.  At the conclusion of their appointment, Mr. Palmer continued to serve the United Christian Missionary Society (forerunner of the Division of Overseas Ministries) as the Executive of Missionary Selection and Training from 1957-1970. The Saenz served in Puerto Rico from 1956 to 1961 and were the last missionaries to serve in that location. In a separate visit, Rev. Brown met with Larry and Rosemary Alland, who served in the Congo from 1957 until 1960.

Rev. Karimu is grateful for the opportunity to visit with these former missionaries.  The Global Ministries family gives thanks for their years of service in God’s mission, as well as their continued support as we continue seeking to live out God’s calling to be the presence of Christ in our world.
