Global Ministries is saddened to learn of the death of Peter Savage

Peter Savage
1934-2014

Global Ministries saddened at news that former missionary Reverend Dr. Peter Savage died in February in the United Kingdom, where he was residing.

Reverend Dr. Savage was born on October 10, 1934 in Cuzco, Peru and spent his childhood and young adult years there and in England.  He received an RN degree at Whitington Hospital in 1957 and went on to the London Bible College and University where he received bachelors and masters degrees in theology and psychology.  He also studied anthropology at the Agrarian University La Molina in Lima Peru and Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena California.

Peter’s educational pursuits then took a turn toward education, clinical psychology and counseling, first at Birmingham University in the United Kingdom, Andover Newton Theological School, where he received a Doctor of Ministry in 1987 and at the Kankot Family Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.

Peter worked in many capacities as an educator in several countries in Latin America, and joined the United Church Board for World Ministries, a predecessor mission body of Global Ministries, as mission personnel in the 1980’s.  Through Global Ministries he served at the Latin American Biblical Seminary in San Jose Costa Rica, with EIRENE in Quito Ecuador and in the early 1990’s was appointed to work with the Dominican Evangelical Church and the Christian Center of Family Counseling (CECAF) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where he served until his retirement in 2004.

Reverend Dr. Savage is credited with motivating leadership of CECAF for many years, setting the groundwork for their ministry today among families in the Dominican Republic, offering therapeutic and training services to underserved populations.

Global Ministries gives thanks to God for Peter Savage’s life and celebrates his decades of service.
