GM Co-Executives Send Message of Solidarity to the UCCJ

The Co-Executives of Global Ministries sent a letter immediately following the earthquake and tsunami to the General Secretary, Rev. Abora Taemae of the United Church of Christ in Japan (UCCJ)

Dear Rev. Abora Taemae:

During the past few hours we have been attentive to the news of the earthquake and tsunami you have suffered, while at the same time holding our church partners and your entire country in our thoughts and prayers. Please be assured that you are not alone in this difficult time. GlobalMinistries and the two churches we represent – the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ – will continue praying for you and seek ways to accompany you in the path that lies ahead.

Our Area Executive for East Asia and the Pacific, Rev. Xiaoling Zhu, is currently visiting China with a group of Conference Ministers of the United Church of Christ. Although communication has been difficult for him at this time, we know of his deep concern for our brothers and sisters in Japan and we are sure he will contact you as soon as he is able.

God bless you and keep you; God make God’s face shine on you and be gracious to you; God turn God’s face toward you and give you peace.
