Handmade crafts from global artisans

Global Ministries is excited to share the opportunity to purchase artisan crafts from around the world while supporting the life-giving work of global partners.

Chile Handmade Cards

These cards were made by a grassroots health promoter connected with a Global Ministries partner in Chile, EPES. These particular cards feature a small arpillera, a traditional Chilean art form that depicts both the positive and negative of the daily life of poor communities.

This pack of five multi-colored cards comes with envelopes and are blank inside. The cards are available for $20.00 plus shipping through the UCC Resources online store here.

Handmade woven items from Guatemala

These Guatemalan artisan crafts are an income-generating project of Global Ministries partner, the Ecumenical Christian Council of Guatemala. The microcredit project of the Ecumenical Christian Council of Guatemala is one of the ways the Council is improving this area in society. The Council provides training and materials for women to begin weaving for income-generation and for artistic expression. Proceeds from these woven items will continue to support this project of the Ecumenical Christian Council of Guatemala.

Totes from the Democratic Republic of Congo

The Mama Jeanne Center is a place of consolation, solidarity, support, and training, for women seeking to become self-sufficient. These woven baskets were bought from the Mama Jeanne Center. Formed out of recycled plastic packaging strips, the baskets are environmentally-friendly and create something beautiful from materials that might otherwise be placed in the trash. Attached to each basket, a card reads, “By touching this basket, you are symbolically touching the hand of a sister who has proven to not be a victim, but a resilient survivor!”.

These totes are available in many different colors in large, medium, and small sizes. The totes are available for $20.00 plus shipping through UCC Resources online store here.
