Human Rights Day Philippines Book Launch

Human Rights Day Philippines Book Launch

December 10, 2016

You are invited to a Book Launch for “Whose Side Are We On?” by Dante Simbulan, former Philippines political prisoner and long-time human rights activist.  The event is co-sponsored by Global Ministries, and will be held at 1:00 pm, Sat., December 10, at National City Christian Church, 5 Thomas Circle NW, Washington, DC.

Dr. Simbulan is a well-respected human rights activist, a former Philippine Military Academy professor, a former political prisoner during Philippine President Marcos’ martial rule. In the United States, he was the first director of the DC-based Church Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines. Dr. Dante Simbulan was assisted in coming to the U.S. by Disciples minister Rev. Paul Wilson.

This timely and much-awaited event is co-organized by the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (Washington DC Organizing Committee), Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and United Church of Christ, and the Institute for Policy Studies.

The book launch will be followed by a forum aimed at providing a venue for critical discussion on burning human rights issues in the Philippines and for figuring out ways to concretely contribute to the just and lasting peace that the Filipino people long for.
