Join a Team Making a Global Difference
Do you want to be part of a team that is transforming lives around the world?
Are you energized by connecting generosity to meaningful impact, and seeing firsthand how financial gifts advance justice, reconciliation, and peace?
If so, the Office of Resource Development at Global Ministries is seeking a dynamic and innovative Development Officer to help expand and strengthen our revenue-generating and fund development efforts.
Global Ministries is a shared ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ (UCC). Together with global and local partners, we share the Good News of Jesus Christ and work for justice, reconciliation, and peace. Our Resource Development team plays a vital role in advancing this mission by cultivating relationships that inspire faithful generosity and long-term partnership.
About the Role
The Development Officer is a strategic and relational team member who manages donor campaigns and development initiatives while leading selected functions that help the organization meet its revenue goals. This role is ideal for someone who is both innovative and relationship-driven; someone eager to explore new, nontraditional pathways and modalities of giving.
What You’ll Do
- Cultivate and steward a portfolio of individual and congregational donors, nurturing meaningful relationships and inviting annual and special gifts in support of Global Ministries’ mission.
- Engage in the full cycle of donor development: identifying prospects, building authentic relationships, inviting financial partnership, and providing thoughtful stewardship.
- Use donor insights and strategic segmentation to personalize engagement and deepen long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Engagement to assess progress toward Resource Development goals and ensure faithful, effective stewardship of donor relationships.
- Partner with Communications and other departments to implement donor-centered campaigns, outreach efforts, and engagement opportunities, including gatherings and special events.
- Meet regularly with Co-Executives and program staff to align funding priorities with ministry needs and share updates on donor engagement.
- Serve as a relationship liaison to Disciples and UCC congregations, judicatories, and racial/ethnic constituency ministries, fostering trust, collaboration, and shared commitment.
What You Bring
We are seeking a strategic thinker and effective communicator who thrives in relationship-based work and collaborative environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in fund development, advancement, or nonprofit relationship management.
- Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor relationships with measurable results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling donor correspondence and facilitate meaningful conversations.
- Experience utilizing donor databases and interpreting data to inform strategy and outreach planning.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a goal-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/database management systems (CRM experience strongly preferred).
- Willingness to travel approximately 35–40% for in-person donor engagement.
- Familiarity with faith-based fundraising contexts preferred; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Hybrid work schedule with two in-office days for collaboration and remote flexibility to support work-life balance.
- Competitive healthcare benefits.
- Generous Paid Time Off.
- The opportunity to directly connect generosity to global impact.
