Lodz, Poland to Tulcea, Romania

Summer is a very busy time for New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children ministries with orphaned, abandoned and at-risk children in Tulcea County, Romania. Without New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children’s programs, very few opportunities would fill the long summer holiday.

This week, for example, in addition to small group meetings and Bible Study, the art of children and youth from institutions is featured at the icon exhibit in the Tulcea Library, a large group will attend the re-opening of the Tulcea Aquarium (important in the Danube Delta Biosphere), another will work with the horses and ride (horse therapy). And this is just the first week of the summer holiday!

New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children staff also are preparing for two camps of 25 children each in late July. Music, Art and Drama camp will weave stories from the Bible into faith-building opportunities for self-expression and community building. I’ll be arriving with bells, guitars, costumes, games (and water pistols and water balloons 😉

Camp often includes visiting a sheep farm, boating on the Danube Delta (and bird watching), challenge course activities, and evening talent shows. Late July will be very hot this year. Mosquitoes in the Delta are voracious, so evening activities are indoors. We’ll have a mock campfire to gather around for indoor evening sings.

I feel privileged to participate in New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children’s ministry of critical presence among the least of these in Romania. Please keep both of us in your prayers as we journey forward in faith.  Doug is officially retiring (but still active in ministry and support).

This German plate was a great find at a thrift
shop in Poland a few years ago.
What IS over those mountains?
Not certain yet, but on the journey.

Keep those prayers rising!
