MECC Congratulates Patriarch Sako on His Creation as Cardinal by Pope Francis

MECC_logo.pngThe Middle East Council of Churches shares with you our tremendous joy in the creation by His Holiness Pope Francis of His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Louis Raphaël I Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church of Babylon, as a Cardinal in the Roman Catholic Church. We extend our warmest wishes and congratulations to Patriarch Sako, as a President of this Council, representing the Catholic family in the East.

This new mission represents a source of pride for the Chaldean Catholic Church in particular and for Middle Eastern Churches and the Council in general. It also represents an opportunity to continue Patriarch Sako’s tireless pursuit to protect the Church in the East by highlighting its heritage, diversity, and theological and spiritual richness to the world.

As we offer thanks to our Lord, the Risen Jesus Christ, we multiply our prayers that the Holy Spirit will support Patriarch Sako’s journey and assist him in his patriarchal and cardinal service, for the benefit of the Church and Christian witness, as well as the advancement of a culture of dialogue and brotherhood in the East and in the world.

May His Beatitude and Eminence accept the gratitude and congratulations of the Council in this special moment of recognition.
