New petition on freedom to travel to Cuba

Global Ministries is committed to calling for an end to the travel ban to Cuba. The House of Representatives has voted to end the travel ban in four out of the past five years, yet every year the Cuba provisions are taken out before the bill is sent to the President. For this reason the Area Office of Latin America and the Caribbean asks you to sign the Latin America Working Group petition to end the travel ban to Cuba. The petition calls on legislators to ensure that, after votes to end the travel ban to Cuba happen and the amendments pass, the bill reaches the President’ s desk without changes. The majority of U.S. citizens and Congress agree that it’s time for the travel ban to end. We ask that their wishes be respected.

You can sign the petition directly via this link:  www.lawg.org/tools/petition.htm. This petition will be delivered to lawmakers initially before important votes on travel at the end of June, and again in October when the Cuba travel amendment will be in danger of being removed by congressional leadership from the final bill. Your signature helps support a more just and rational U.S. policy toward Cuba — a country that is our neighbor and is no threat to us.
