The Division of Overseas Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) seeks qualified candidates for the Program Associate for Advocacy and Education, based in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The primary function is to facilitate Global Ministries’ efforts to help Disciples and UCC churches advocate on behalf of justice issues important to our congregations, Global Ministries, and our partner churches and institutions around the world.  In addition, the Program Associate will also administer Global Ministries’ Short-term Volunteer Program, in consultation with the Mission Personnel executive

Qualified candidates will have an understanding of and commitment to the total mission of the church and to working ecumenically; a knowledge of global issues related to economic, social, and environmental justice; basic knowledge of the U.S. Congress’ legislative process and State Department desk work, as well as the United Nations structure; the ability to interact effectively and sensitively with persons from diverse backgrounds and levels of education; and the ability and willingness to travel domestically and, on occasion, internationally.

Also, qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of email, internet, and word processing systems.  Theological training and UCC or Disciples membership is preferred.  Knowledge of Spanish and/or French is desirable.
