Pray for Mexico on Sunday, April 26, 2015

4-22-2.jpgPrayers for Mexico:

Loving Creator, on this day we come before you with joyful praise for we acknowledge you as the Source of our being. From you comes everything we need. Your loving care is reflected from shining seas to landscapes in a thousand places.

We are humbled and gratified that you call us into your loving presence. We are your flock; people who are grateful for what you provide us and for your voice. You speak to us, yet we do not always listen. You show us the path to take, yet we do not always follow.

Help us, Good Shepherd, to love one another and to celebrate our differences in race, nationality, gender. Help us to love one another that we may be one in our shared love for you. We pray this in the name of the one who taught us to love and to pray, Amen

Mission Stewardship Moment for Mexico:

We hear the voice of the Good Shepherd whether we live in Mexico, Congo, Kansas, Canada, Laos or Israel. The Good Shepherd speaks in many languages, sometimes in no language, yet we hear the voice in our heart.

Living in Mexico, Doug and Kate share the life of faith with Christians who have heard the voice, who follow where the Good Shepherd leads them. We walk with Christians of Disciples of Christ and Congregational Churches who are led on paths that represent opportunities for a better life.

Like the women in two Disciples churches in the Huasteca, a region in Eastern San Luis Potosi that is very poor and where many of the people still speak the language of the Aztecs. Thanks to the Disciples women’s organization, women in the Huasteca have received loans to buy, process and market the coffee grown locally and then sold through DOC and UCC churches here.

Other paths in which our Shepherd leads here is to more training for UCC and DOC ministers and laypersons. Kate and Doug assist a Global Ministries’ partner agency, the Mesa Conjunta “Roundtable”, in offering theological education for pastors and laypersons in the Curso de Verano (“Summer Training Program”) as well as other opportunities for learning and growth.

The Good Shepherd leads us on different paths with the same voice pleading that all of God’s people may be one in love, no matter what path we are on. Where is the Good Shepherd leading you?
