Pray with Ecuador Sunday, November 8, 2020

Lectionary Selection:  Matthew 25:1-13

Prayers for Ecuador:

God, we come to you humbly and with thanks. We are so thankful for all that you have provided and all that you will provide for us in the future. Thank you for providing necessary resources, but also for those people you have placed in our lives to carry out your good works. Please continue to lead us along your path you have prepared for us and remind us to always be watchful for you in all aspects of our lives. Remind us to be more generous and to treat everyone as if it were You. Bless FEDICE in their mission to improve the lives of those around them and help them to remain strong and hopeful in this difficult time.

Mission Stewardship Moment from Ecuador:

Ecuador has faced many challenges in the past, but now during this season of the pandemic many people are in search of their proverbial lamp oils as their lamps are nearing empty. People are tired, worried, and are struggling to keep essentials available for their families. Much of Ecuador’s economy revolves around tourism and with fewer travelers, more people fear losing their jobs and in turn, the means to care for their families. FEDICE, despite the pandemic, has continued working hard to serve their communities and meet these concerns with support. They are offering supplies to help refill their brothers’ and sisters’ lamps. Several of FEDICE’s partners are daycare centers for children and these operations continue to run. These loving teachers are offering lessons online for their young students. These are great examples of people who are prepared. They are prepared to love and help others in any way possible. Matthew 25:13 tells us to keep watch and to always be prepared because we can never know the day or hour that Christ is to return. We must be ready for his return and one way to do this is to carry out his works by helping others and treating them as if they are God, and in this way – only this way – we will truly be ready for his return.
