Prayers for Morocco:

Loving God,

Mighty and glorious in power. You are our refuge and safe place. In times of distress and trouble, You are with us!

We pray for the Evangelical Protestant Church in Morocco, please provide for all of their needs. Lord, we pray for the leaders and the hundreds of volunteers who serve to keep the Body of Christ alive in this country. Manifest your glory through their work and deeds. Let them be your voice so they can speak for the voiceless, let them be your eyes so they can see beauty and kindness in others, let them be your ears so they can hear the cry of the least of these, let them be your hands to work for and to provide for the needy, let them be your feet so they can walk on troubled waters to rescue the lost ones.

By your power, we call forth passion for justice and social equity. Let your living word awaken our spirit so we may dwell in love and unity with our siblings. May your Spirit guide and lead us, and help us find purpose and meaning for our gifts. Renew our strength so we can continue to serve the world with our time, talents and treasures.

Let your healing presence bring comfort and peace to your people.

Amen.

Morocco_Fritz-Gerald_Joseph_Community_meals_with_W2W.JPGMission Stewardship Moment from Morocco:

It was a regular day when I received a phone call from one of the volunteer team members, saying, "Pastor, we have to plan another funeral."

"Who died?" I asked him.

"It is a fetal death (stillbirth)," he replied. "I am currently at the hospital with the mother, you can talk to her and if you can, please come to help us with the procedures."

The mother was 8 months pregnant when she decided to cross over the Algerian and Moroccan borders in hope that she would have reached Europe to give birth to her baby boy, so he could have a better life than she has never had. She was on her last breath and about to pass out when she asked for help from the border patrol officers from whom she was trying to hide in the icy and cold mountain of North-Eastern Morocco.

Morocco_Fritz-Gerald_Joseph_Youth_Event_in_Meknes.jpgThey brought her to the hospital and had left her there alone. But by the grace of God, a student doctor called the church to come and assist her. Unfortunately, the baby died and they had to cut away the mother’s toes and some fingers because she got frostbite.

It has been 3 months now and the church is taking care of her physically, mentally, and spiritually. She has made so much progress in her recovery. Today she is alive again because of the loving and healing presence of the church.
