Prayers for the Democratic Republic of Congo

“Almighty God, we turn our gaze to You in these times of distress in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We pray especially for the people of the Eastern provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu, and Ituri, without forgetting the provinces of Kwilu, Kwango, and Maindombe in the West.

We pray for the thousands of refugees and the millions of people living in inhumane conditions, women who have been raped, and children who have been abandoned. We pray for the elderly who have no help in their isolation.

We pray for their comfort and also for all those suffering from illness, injury, trauma, violence, and rejection.

May Your mighty hand bring healing through the stripes of Jesus Christ to wounded bodies and broken souls.

Almighty Lord, we implore Your peace that surpasses all understanding and reconciliation with true mutual forgiveness so that war may end.

Lord, listen.
Lord hear us and Lord act.
In the Name of Jesus Christ.
Amen!

Mission Moment from the Democratic Republic of Congo

At the Université Protestante au Congo (UPC), a new generation of leaders is being shaped in classrooms and through chaplaincy activities that have renewed hearts, inspired fresh commitments, and drawn many students into deeper engagement. During the 2024–2025 academic year, the Chaplaincy organized several life-giving initiatives—Conquest, Upper House, Proclaim, and 1H Na Mahombi—each strengthening fellowship, spiritual growth, and holistic student development.

One of the most impactful gatherings was Conquest in January 2025, which drew nearly 4,000 students. Through prayer, evangelism, and fellowship, participants were reminded that in Christ, they are conquerors, called to claim their spiritual inheritance and shine in their academic and personal lives. Many students were deeply touched by the Gospel and expressed a desire to engage more fully with the chaplaincy.

In May, Upper House brought together 1,500 students for a powerful day of prayer, worship, and Bible study. The event emphasized new birth in Christ, spiritual equipping, and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Many testified to a revived passion for prayer and a fresh awareness of God’s presence in their daily lives.

This year, Proclaim was held on June 14, 2025, when 3,000 students gathered on the lawn in front of the UPC library. Voices were raised to boldly proclaim God’s mighty deeds, and several students made new commitments to follow Christ.

In addition, the weekly prayer initiative 1H Na Mahombi continued to draw around 800 students each Tuesday, interceding for personal needs, the university, and the nation.

These chaplaincy programs nurtured spiritual life on campus and broadened the mission’s reach. The enthusiastic participation and transformed lives are a testimony of God’s faithfulness. Looking ahead, the chaplaincy hopes to expand resources and strengthen follow-up with students, ensuring that the seeds planted will continue to bear fruit.
