Pray for Venezuela on Sunday, August 16, 2015

Prayers for Venezuela:
Oh, God, you are the source of life and the reason for our hopes and dreams. We pray today for the Evangelical Pentecostal Union of Venezuela, our partners in mission. They are facing the deep economic and political crisis that confronts Venezuela at all levels of society. Give then the strength and capacity to be a glimmer of justice and peace, needed to move ahead. As they organize to celebrate their annual Assembly, August 27-30, 2015 give them the vision and courage to continue proclaiming the good news of your gospel and values of your reign. In Jesus Christ, our redeemer and savior, we pray. Amen.

2015_Venezuela_2.jpegMission Stewardship Moment from Venezuela:
Venezuela is a very divided country. The political, social and economic situations are challenging all sectors in a conflict that promotes insecurity, hatred, frustration and uncertainty.

The Evangelical Pentecostal Union of Venezuela is organizing and sponsoring programs to promote spaces for peace in what has been called houses for peace. The national youth organization, UJIC (Youth Union Christ’s Imitators) is constantly convening youth gatherings in local churches to concientize their leadership as reconciling agents in Venezuela. The National Women’s Union (UMIFE) held a series of encounters all over the country to affirm the positive role of women in church and society. A theological center (CEVET) is providing the pertinent theological reflection so vital to help all these leaders to discern, in good Pentecostal theology, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the pastoral accompaniment among the people of Venezuela.

2015_Venezuela_3.jpegThe Evangelical Pentecostal Union of Venezuela (UEPV) is an ecumenical national Pentecostal church with a long history of a commitment to peace with justice in Venezuela and Latin America and the Caribbean. Their mission is to follow Jesus in an ecumenical discipleship of true reconciliation.
