Prayers for Ecuador:

God, thank you for all the blessings you give to us all. Even in times of difficulties, we can feel that you are with us. The people of Ecuador are a great example of this; no matter the circumstance of their lives, they are abundantly loving and ready to help anyone they encounter. In each moment, we witness human kindness and compassion in Ecuador, we feel your presence reminding us that we are all connected through you. Just as Peter knew, they needed to be on the mountain top with Jesus, a peace comes to those who answer your call. Thank you for being present in our lives and helping us embrace the silence in order to feel your presence.

Please let your presence be known in Ecuadorian families that are affected by ongoing wars on the border of Ecuador and Colombia. Please continue to provide for the families that are in impoverished areas who struggle to provide basic necessities we sometimes take for granted. Also, please be with all of us and help us to serve in a way that brings all your people together.

Mission Stewardship Moment from Ecuador:

We are truly blessed to be included in the missions of the Ecumenical Foundation for Development, Integration, Training, and Education (FEDICE) and Global Ministries. FEDICE hosts groups from the US and provides great opportunities for volunteers to learn from the people and the culture here. We had the opportunity to spend our very first week in Ecuador with a very special group from Kansas City, Missouri. We collected general health data including previous illnesses and the height and weight of the children of the community. Measuring height and weight may seem like a small task, but many of the communities that FEDICE works with do not have access to scales or measuring devices to screen the children for malnutrition or other illnesses. FEDICE does an amazing job of bringing people together. The entire time we were working there, locals from the community also worked alongside us. It is such a great opportunity to serve and learn with our brothers and sisters in Ecuador. We are grateful to be able to share closeness and service with the people of Ecuador and around the world.
