Sabeel Wave of Prayer, week of Nov. 2

Wave of Prayer: This prayer ministry enables local and international friends of Sabeel to pray over regional concerns on a weekly basis. Sent to Sabeel’s network of supporters, the prayer is used in services around the world and during Sabeel’s Thursday Communion service; as each community in its respective time zone lifts these concerns in prayer at noon every Thursday, this “wave of prayer” washes over the world.

Israel’s clamp-down on Hebron, the largest Palestinian city on the West-bank, has intensified. Despair and frustration on the Palestinian side has also intensified, and so has violence, with near-daily deadly confrontations erupting at Israeli army checkpoints and with Jewish settlers who are rarely questioned or held accountable for their violence, leaving the Palestinian community of Hebron fragile. Lord, we ask you to wrap your loving tender arms around the city of Hebron. comfort and strengthen them during this time of difficulty.

On Saturday, Noor, a four year old girl was seriously injured, and had to have her leg amputated during a school field trip in Ramallah. The girl’s family, school, friends, church and her community in Ramallah are devastated by this tragic incident. We join her family, classmates and the entire community in this prayer appeal for her speedy recovery. In spite of these sad incidents which remind us that we are not immune to danger or evil, we continue to be comforted by God’s healing power and mercy.

Lord in your mercy………..

November 2nd marked the 98th anniversary of the Balfour declaration which laid the foundation for a national home for the Jewish people in the historic land of Palestine. The signing of this declaration has led to decades of occupation, colonialism and exile for the Palestinian people. Lord, we pray that a solution may be found soon which will protect and promote Palestinian rights so that all who now share this land can live together in a just peace.

Lord in your mercy………..

On Saturday a Russian passenger plane crashed for unknown reasons in Egypt over the Sinai desert killing all 224 people on board, including 15 children. Dear God, we pray for all the victims’ families. Grant them comfort in the hour of their grief. Grant them peace of mind and a confident heart that you are always there in every crisis of life. We pray that everyone touched by this plane crash will find peace in the midst of these painful times.
